PROGRAM OVERVIEW Have you ever seen something on or near the water that didn't quite look right? Perhaps you wanted to report a potential pollution incident but weren't sure how to describe it, whom to contact, or if it warranted a report. We understand that identifying common pollution issues in South Florida and knowing how to respond can be challenging. That's where our "1,000 Eyes on the Water" program comes in. Our program empowers you to become a champion for your local waterways by providing you with the skills to observe, document, and report pollution incidents that you may come across during your daily activities. Join this program See all of our programs ›Miami Waterkeeper is proud to join Diver's Paradise for our first-ever Scuba Clean-up!! To register for this event, please click HERE. Make sure to register for the 5/4/2024 dive with Miami Waterkeepet at 10am! Volunteer Day Main Tasks: Removal of marine debris from the marine ecosystem This volunteer event may require heavy lifting and at least an open-water dive certification. Hence teenagers and older groups are recommended. If younger age groups participate, they should be monitored at all times by the designated guardian, parents, etc. *Community Service hours also provided* Important Volunteer Information: Please be on time, registration begins 30 minutes before the volunteer workday starts. Please arrive at 8:30am! Please Bring: Refillable water bottle. Stay hydrated and be prepared to work outside and on the water. If you have your own dive gear you are welcome to bring it ($70 to reserve your spot on the boat) Other wise you can pay $95 for your spot on the boat and a tank and weights. Swimsuit/rashguard for snorkeling (mask and snorkels are provided but fins are not provided- due to the shallow nature of the reef, we do not recommend them). A hat and sun protection Gloves you feel comfortable wearing (otherwise Miami Waterkeeper will provide gloves). The event is weather-dependent and will be canceled with at least 24 hours' notice if inclement weather is anticipated. The event lasts around 4 hours with an end time of around 1:00pm. Please meet at Diver's Paradise dive shop (4000 Crandon Blvd. Key Biscayne, FL 33149) at 8:30am. To register for this event, please click HERE. The fee breakdown below: $70 per person for a 2-tank dive clean-up (does not include any dive gear) $95 per person for 2 tank dives, including tank and weights. Gear Rental: (if you don't have your own gear, you'll need to rent it from Diver's Paradise) $50 for all gear (includes regulator, BCD, mask, fins, and snorkel) <---- highly recommend this package!! $20 for mask, fins, snorkel $25 for regulator $20 for BCD Registration fees are due in order to RSVP and refunds will not be issued for no-shows.
